Vice Deanship Overview:

The Medical College Agency for Clinical Affairs is responsible for overseeing the clinical training process for college students during their undergraduate studies, ensuring the achievement of professional competency and the clinical skills necessary for medical practice. The Agency works to implement approved policies and programs, coordinate with hospitals and medical centers to provide a distinguished training environment, as well as monitor student performance and continuously develop training programs. The Agency reports directly to the Dean of the College and is considered one of the active components of the College Council in supporting the quality of medical education.

Vision:

Excellence locally and regionally in building the clinical skills of students of the College of Medicine through clinical training that meets the requirements of the competencies document of graduates of the College of Medicine in the Kingdom, in addition to excellence in the field of scientific research and community service.

Mission:

Contribute to achieving the mission of the college in graduating students with high efficiency in training and clinical practice to provide a better medical service to the community.

Duties:

• Supervising the academic and administrative training of intern physicians.
• Developing improvement plans for intern physician training 
• Coordinating with hospitals and medical centers across the Kingdom for training purposes.
• Visiting hospitals to monitor student progress and performance.

•  Periodically developing clinical training to ensure its effectiveness and improve its outcomes.

• Overseeing the issuance of internship completion certificates

• Supporting academic departments through clinical simulation training.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the page of the Agency for Clinical Affairs at the College of Medicine, Northern Border University, where we work to enhance the quality of clinical education and elevate its outcomes in accordance with best practices and international standards.

The Agency seeks to provide an integrated educational and training environment that enables our students to acquire essential and advanced clinical competencies, through effective partnerships with teaching hospitals, including integration with the simulation and clinical skills laboratory to deliver a progressive learning experience that combines training in a safe simulation environment with direct practical application, in addition to adopting modern teaching methods based on learning by practice and competency based training

We are also committed to supporting and developing faculty members, and strengthening the integration between academic and applied aspects, contributing to the preparation of distinguished physicians capable of efficiently meeting the healthcare needs of the community.

Units of the Vice Deanship 

Intern Physicians Unit:

• Duties:
• The Internship Unit supervises intern physicians and reports directly to the Vice Dean of the College for Clinical Affairs.
• The unit is responsible for all matters related to intern physician training, including handling administrative arrangements for training rotations, following up with trainees, and resolving any difficulties they encounter.
•  Improving the level of training, implementing educational programs that contribute to educating intern physicians and equipping them with the skills necessary for medical practice, and conducting studies and research related to the internship period .
• The Internship Unit oversees the resolution of all problems faced by intern physicians during their training period, and handles the submission of complaints related to their performance for review and decision. The unit also receives all observations and grievances submitted by them during the training period.
• Preparing training letters and following up on the evaluation of intern physicians throughout the internship year.

• Organizing summer training for clinical year students in accordance with the required standards.

• Coordinating clinical simulation workshops.

• Issuing periodic reports and statistics on the progress of practical training.

• Issuing internship year completion certificates upon the conclusion of the training period

Alumni Unit:

• Duties:
• Establishing an alumni database.
• Providing alumni with a periodic newsletter.
• Inviting alumni to attend the college’s scientific events.
• Honoring distinguished alumni.
• Identifying the most significant obstacles faced by students after graduation and entering the job market.
• Conducting survey studies related to the number of graduates, the percentage employed, the percentage unemployed, and other relevant data, and providing the results to concerned authorities for necessary action .
• Strengthening communication ties with alumni to benefit from their experiences in developing academic, research, and training plans, which is considered a fundamental pillar for advancing educational systems
• Inviting alumni who have assumed leadership positions to participate as speakers at college event.
• Benefiting from their expertise and contributions in supporting collaboration with the college in medical education and training at all levels.

Clinical Training Unit:

• Duties:
• Preparing clinical skills training programs for each educational unit according to its curriculum.
• Preparing trainers from faculty members based on specialization and experience .
• Preparing an explanatory form defining the practical steps for each skill .
• Preparing scientific material for each skill to serve as a guide for both the instructor and the student during application.
• Providing tools and training models (simulation models) .
• Providing audio visual materials demonstrating all clinical skills .
• Providing suitable training venues .
• Preparing a program to evaluate the performance of trainers and trainees .
• Designing a timetable for clinical skills training sessions for each educational level (academic year) .
• Distributing students at each educational level into small groups, with a trainer assigned to each training group.
• Preparing an administrative structure for the clinical skills unit for administrative oversight and coordination among its various activities.

Skills and Clinical Simulation Laboratory:

• Duties:
• Teaching and training students in various clinical medical skills 
• Enabling students and trainees to acquire skills in a safe environment away from patients at the initial stage
• Learning medical practice to help students deal with real patients in hospitals  
•  Developing and implementing education programs based on multidisciplinary healthcare teamwork.
• Providing educational and training services for all medical college students
• Providing the ideal environment for a distinguished type of healthcare training recognized by international health organizations and associations.
