About the department:
The department was established alongside the founding of the College of Medicine in 1428AH (2007)AD, Following the blessed visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud - May Allah have mercy on him - to the Northern Border Region. The surgical courses are considered an essential component to the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery program. The department offers several specialized courses including, Musculoskeletal, Urology, Radiology, and Ophthalmology. Surgical courses are taught to male and female students during the fourth, fifth, and sixth clinical years.

Department Activities
- The department undertakes teaching and learning responsibilities at the college of Medicine. it delivers courses on the fundamentals of surgical problems and the scientifically accepted approaches to managing them.
- In addition, the Department teaches other surgical specialties, including, orthopedics, urology, radiology, and ophthalmology. The department is also engaged in practical and research activities.
