About the department

The Department of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine, Northern Border University, was established since its inception in the year - 1430 AH corresponding to 2009 AD, and is based in the main building of the college, the male section, on the ground floor, where it serves students of the Faculty of Medicine and the College of Nursing in the male and female sections. 

The department works to qualify the student in the use of medicines rationally and also works to qualify the student on the optimal selection of medicine according to the condition of each patient

Vision 

In line with the vision of the college, the department of pharmacology aspires to be distinguished in the field of clinical and therapeutic pharmacology and to be a pioneer in education, scientific research, and community service.

Mission

The mission of the department is an extension of the college's mission in preparing competent physicians who provide high quality healthcare services and are well qualified to complete their medical specializations locally and abroad. the department also trains them to conduct scientific research that contributes to serving the community, advancing scientific and medical progress and attaining distinguished national and international levels. 

Department's Objectives

The department aims to enable students to:

  • Prescribe medications using reliable and high quality drug information sources.
  • Identify the uses of drugs .
  • Recognize the possible side effects of certain medications and the ability to prevent them when possible.
  • Distinguishing certain drug interactions.
  • Develop the ability to evaluate scientific research and benefit from its clinical applications.
